High School Football Player Drops .59 off his 40-Yard Dash, 30 Pounds & Earns A College Scholarship

“If our team had 10 more of Reece, we’d be in a good place ”  - Coach Novy

When I first contacted Reece’s football coach to let him know we'd be helping him with his offseason speed and strength training, we wanted to get his insight on what Reece needed to work on to contribute to an even higher-level for his team.

That was the first complement to come out of his mouth. Meaning Reece LOVES football and is a high-motor guy.

He has the drive and determination to achieve his goals which is the reason he had such a great success with his training, because of his commitment and effort.

We were simply excited to come along side of Reece and help him get faster and stronger by providing him with smart and strategic workout programming to get better results from all of  his hard work.

This is a part Reece’s story.

Reece was one of the hardest workers I've trained which is a huge attribute to his success.

At time's I'd have to slow him down to teach him proper technique in order to help him excel in the long run and also get him to REST so his body could adapt to the stress during training.

He's an amazing young man with an amazing story and family and we're happy for his continued success.

How did you find out about Athletic Preparation?

Well it all started when me and my mom wanted to see if I could play college football, and have the opportunity to so we went looking online for trainers in the area and we ended up finding you, and came to you.

Fell in love the first time I came, and just got addicted and couldn't stop. And here I stand.

What were you goals coming in for training ?

Yeah as far as being able to be noticed by college coaches and having the opportunity to play college, I had to get my speed and agility worked out completely.

I dropped a lot of body fat and a lot of weight in general so I could get to that speed. And of course, just gain strength that's always a good thing but mainly for me was always focused on getting faster. And jumping higher, more agile, etc.

What kind of results did you experience with your speed and strength training?

When I first came in my vertical jump was about 21 inches, and a little after a year later I got it up to 31 inches but I was finally able to grab rim for the first time of my life, never been able to do that. My bench press went up quite a bit, squat went up, deadlift went up, my 40 time coming in was like a 5.5

Now I can run a 5 flat pretty well so. Yeah. Shaved a half second off.

After I finally did legit training coming into my senior season, right away, first scrimmage, first practice, felt completely different, faster than everybody else, stronger than everybody else, felt way more confident in that and I felt like I was the best player out there on the field because I knew I was physically better than most of the other players.

My coaches definitely noticed but who really noticed was my ... the opposing coaches that would come up to me and say, "Dang did you gain weight or did you lose weight? Or did you get faster?"

Etc, etc. and they wanted to know like what I did and I just told them I worked out at Athletic Preparation.

What has been your experience training at Athletic Preparation?

Well when I first started working out I was going to public gyms and stuff like that. And I sort of knew what I was doing but I didn't know anything to be honest. Then when we found Athletic Preparation, Josh completely changed how I do everything.

I couldn't even do a push up correctly at all.

We worked on push ups for ... Me and Josh worked on push ups for probably two weeks. And I eventually was able to finally get 'em and now I do perfect push ups. It's just the little things like that that Josh was able to help me with.

And as far as working out here it's one of the best environments that you can ask for to be honest. Everybody's super friendly, everybody ... it's like a small family to be honest.

I mean, Josh is a great guy too, so fantastic person and a fantastic trainer. As far as the family aspect goes of this place, I mean, at first I was kinda afraid of Josh. I was calling him Sir and stuff like that when I first came in. I was being all formal about it and then he's just like, "Dude you need to stop that right now. We're chill."

He comes to a lot of my football games, at my grad party, stuff like that. Just little things like that then we've grown close over the years.

Why should an athlete consider training with Athletic Preparation if they’re looking to improve their performance?

If you have any interest in playing at a college level for any sports like that, or just getting in shape in general or anything like that. Josh is going to be able to help you so well, he's got very good workout programs and you really see results pretty quickly.
