Football Player Sprints .63 Faster 40-Yard dash And Builds Muscle With Off-Season Speed And Strength Training
Parents often come to us for off-season speed and agility training for their young athletes and one of the most popular sports is Football.
They want to give them a competitive edge, a more explosive first step and make sure they have enough lean muscle and strength to protect their bodies from impact and injury during football.
... and also over power their opponets.
Such as the case for one local Oakland County multi-sport athlete Daniel S.
Daniel came to Athletic Preparation (following his older brothers footsteps who trained with us) looking to get faster, be more explosive and build some muscle!

Daniel wasn't always fast and strong. In fact...
“Before training, he was slow as molasses!.”

BOOM! #Roasted ... thanks mom.
Daniel was a solid, multi-sport athlete when he came in.
He's a 2 sport athlete that has to manage
- practice
- school
- homework
- playing multiple sports
- and how to fit his speed and strength training in at Athletic Preparation
He trained hard for his first off-season and got some solid results, his sprint times went down, he got a little stronger and more powerful.
The most important thing was .. He FELT faster and more confident while playing his sport!

After his first 3-months of off-season training, he was excited with the small progress he made and his performance playing football and basketball.
He was hooked on speed training, lifting and the impact it made on his game and did NOT want to lose all his progress.
Dan now continued lifting with us or at school 1-2 x / week.
He made time because he experienced the value and athleticism that working out had on his game.
^^ This is where the magic happens ^^
( his continued commitment to improving )
After his solid sophmore season of football and basketball he got right back at it again after basketball season.
He came in for his workouts 3-4 days / week (his schedule might look like below)
- 2-3 Days of Speed / Agility Training
- 3-4 Days of Lifting Weight
WEEK | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY | FRIDAY | SATURDAY | SUNDAY |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
SPEED | Acceleration | Off | Agility | Off | Max Velocity | Rest / Sport | Rest / Sport |
LIFT | Lower | Upper | Lower | Off | Upper | Off | Off |
But something happened during 7-on-7's ...
He showed up and was turning parents, coaches and teammates heads ...
One parent asked Dan's Mom ...
" What has Daniel been doing ?! He looks huge and fast !! "
Teammates and opposing players took notice as well when he stepped on the field.
For the past 5-months Dan has been silently training hard and putting work in during the football off-season with some of his best friends, schoolmates and teammates to compete with and he's posted his best numbers (and transformation) to date!

Dan never missed sessions, he made training a priority and found ways to make into the gym to get better that included :
- Improving his sprinting technique
- Increasing his maximal strength levels
- Developing a more rapid rate of force development (RFD)
- Building lean muscle mass
- Followed a properly periodized strength and conditioning program for football
He trusted the process and put the process to work for him day in and day out for over 1-year and completely transformed his speed, power, strength.
He's laid the foundation of preparation for a breakout junior season!
Get Faster For Football Conclusion
We often rush for last seconds results but you can't bypass the hard work, dedication, commitment and character developed through the training process and Dan is an example and result of all the above.
The shortcut is starting right now, and working an intelligent strength and conditioning program hard and consistently.
